THE HITTITES AND THE NEW HITTITE KINGDOMS (2000 – 700 B.C.)
This collection was designed and made at the Urart workshops inspired by works of the Hittite period. With the steady change of the Hittite kingdom into an empire, Anatolia experienced a golden age of civilization in the 18th Century B.C. Hittites were an assimilation and skillful synthesis of native Anatolian culture and its greatest contribution to Anatolian art was in the form of monumental architecture, and gigantic statues and reliefs. Seal-making, particularly in the form of stamp seals, was a very advanced art.
